my power steering isnt working, dont know what to do =/

i dont really know what kind of information you guys would need for this subject, but i have a 5.0 89 mustang converted to mass air. and its my little project for right now. but i drove the car around the block and its harder than hell to turn the thing. i have the pump hooked up and the lines hooked up i even have power steering fluid in it. what should i do to fix it?

i know i wont b much help... say to hell with it and put a manual rack in it... save weight and add power lol

If it's a race car go manual if not you could have a few problems that would be easier to replace than trouble shoot. replace the rack and pump and be done with it..

you converted your 89 to mass air??

did you take the belt off for anything and not put it back on correctly??

Is it whinning or anything? Any bump to it when you turn like it will catch sometimes? Pumps do go bad, so it probably just died on you.

IF theres a loud screeching noise it could be the belt

My friend thought he was going to need a whole new pump but it ended up his belt was too loose and was slipping at the power steering pulley. he got a smaller belt and it was perfect.
