My Quest for a 10 second pass.

13-14 psi, you can clearly see by the wear I am only planting 8" of tire maybe less. Just dump the clutch right off the two step which is actavated by the clutch switch. Yes for sure if it made 417hp last year it is got to be 440hp+ this year. Pulls harder then ever and turns the tires in third with ease, never did that in the past. I figured between the engine and suspension I spent over 5K to go .15 faster at the track LOL....so far

You might wanna try adding a couple pounds, MT reccomends not going under 16 i think.

Also, i think the clutch technique your using is hurting you on the radials. On the slick that will work, but with the radial you need to ride the clutch out for most of first gear to get them to work well. They are tricky with a 5 speed

yea we are running 17lbs in the coupe on radials.

PK?

I had fun at the event, didnt make it there till late so no test and tune passes. Track wasnt that great, first pass was a 11.13 at 124mph, which was about 60 seconds after the 30 mile cruise. So the car was pretty heat soaked. Scott, how did the NMRA run the true street class? How long was the cooldown after the cruise and how long between passes were you given?

The way they did it, it was everyone cruise, come back, enough time to check tire pressure and put my fire jacket on(barely), then make 3 passes back to back. My brakes were so hot i just made a 1.8th mile pass so i could let them cool down and the third pass the fan relay popped and i had to rush back to the pits cause the car was at like 225. It was kinda rediculous, there was a 9 minute gap on my 2nd and 3rd pass timeslips.

WOW that is brutal! I bet that would be worth it for what a trophy? NMRA is $100 plus trophy!

Nothing like that at Illinois last year or Michigan this year at least 45minute cool down after cruise. Michigan was about 10 minutes between passes. By the time you make your run you are back in staging lanes waiting your turn again. Enough time for me to have a few minutes of cool down time. There were like 24 cars in MI, IL was like 40 some and had a little longer time between rounds due to the number.

My next trip to the track will be on the slicks for sure. Ive never been this close to the 10.99 in hot weather so i think i have a pretty good shot at it now. Gonna flush the brake fluid, check the pads and probably nut and bolt the car.

Thanks Chris, Wish i had some pictures. I went with my girlfriend and handed her the camera, this was the first time she had ever seen me race the car and she was freaking out, so i ended up with pictures that were either out of focus, or half the car in the frame haha

60' was 1.6, most of the info on the car is in my progress thread. Its a 345'' motor with TW cnc 205's, box R intake, Dan Rawls cam, faceplated TKO and 4.30 gears

The Chase is Over

Almost 2 years since i started this thread and i finally got it done.

I guess i got really tired of knocking nicely on the door to the tens, cause yesterday i pretty much kicked that bitch right off the hinges! Video and pics to come.
