Did a burnout the other day and my tach went all way to 7,000 plus when I floored it. Aren't 5.0's supposed to have a 6250rpm limiter? My car has very few mods and Anderson Ford Motorsport and a few other places said I must have a chip in the computer because that is the only way to delete the Rev Limiter on my car. So I pulled out the A9L but there was no chip in it. What gives? Could there be some other reason why the RL in my car doesn't work?

You didn't mention if you have an aftermarket tach or not. The factory tach can be off by quite a bit.

I've pinned the needle trying to power shift and didn't hit the rev limiter. I'm sure that the stock tach is just something to be left to the imagination when guessing rpms. So don't worry about it. Although I would try to keep it under 7 grand next time

I recently had my car dynoed and my tach is around 800rpms off at high rpms. My rev limiter kicks in around 7,000 rpms...

The stock tachs can be even more off. Also, if you engine is stock the car doesnt make any more power after 5-5,200 rpms. So it's pointless reving it all the way to 6,000 or in my case (7,000rpms)

yep, it requires tuning to remove the stock limiter. stock tachs are generally a % optimistic (so the variance is really seen at higher rpms). my stocker is fairly accurate till about 3K.
