Ok within the next few weeks I will be getting some $$ and I want to buy my first mods for the notch...After doing research I decided that first things first and it needs to sound better....It's really quiet...when it's parked next to my friends 4.6 with a catless h-pipe and mac cat back you would never know my car was on lol:bang: :owned: ...(I will be getting gears next but the install is a pita and I can't do it myself:nonono:)

Ok I don't want to start another "are these headers ok" thread and i DID do a search and read every thread I could find about long tuben headers...but...

I am not spending $500 on a mass produced item that costs a fraction of that to make...with that being said I'm going to be buying some budget summit or flowpath headers....I know people say you get what you payfor. I have no problem cleaning up crappy collector welds or crappy coationgs....That is somthing that a nobrainer could fix...I know some people say their may be some fitment issuies but this is summit we are talking about....how long have they been around?

Basically what I want to know is if I do buy some summit long tube headers, I'm going with a mac catless h-pipe, and a mac cat-back.....does anyone know if I will have any issuies bolting the short h-pipe to the collectors of the lt's (both being 2 1/2")??

I know somepeople said they have some fitment issuies with their mac cb's but from my research thats only with a different brand h/x-pipe...

Another ? would be does mac make a short x-pipe because the only mid pipes that I found from mac were the h's that were ment to bolt up to the lt's?

Because these headers are only $100 I can eaisly get some nice grade 8 bolts so they don't fall off but do the headers come with gasgets/bolts (im asumming not because they are so cheap?

The way I look at it is, the summit headers will be a huge improvement over my very tiny, crimped/smashed, rusted stock headers....and for $100 who cares if they arent as good as the kooks they should not be for 1/5 of the cost....

When you buy cheap parts you get problems....fitment issues usually mean exhaust leaks...exhaust leaks will drive you crazy, nothin like a car that sounds like it's got a pee'd off lifter. Save the money and buy a good quality set that will last and not be rotting out on you in less than a yr. Economy brands usually don't fit all that well, tend to be made of thinner material and have a relatively short lifespan.Good luck on your purchase since you've already made up your mind...hope the install goes well.

Thanks for the heads up, but they do make exhaust sealer...I would never connect a non-welded exhaust pipe with out using this stuff....

I used to have a 2005 GTO...The corsa catback was soposed to be the best $1100 new...I got it and after a few weeks i had leakes all over the place..tore it apart and used the exhaust sealer and never had a problem again for 10+months...

Unless they are ment to be welded together I will never not use this stuff and plan to use it when it get mine in.

About rusting/roting, like I said coating them will be no problem...but did you maybe mean from the inside out?...is that even possable?

I have read that in order to put in long tubes we have to raise the motor a few inches?
Thanks for the help guys.
