A few pictures I took on the 22-09-2007

and pictures I took today:
They are almost done with the gapping, the front fenders have been rolled and I am very very very pleased with it. Amazing work so far.

Here's a selection of today's pictures:

You would be surprised how thin the paint is , almost like nothing is there...

The gap is nicely done there

The hood closes perfectly now

not getting it stripped? i see so many guys get a car done, then, when the old primer edges start to rear their ugly heads, wish they had done the right thing

First they are doing the body work, gaps etc..
Once that's done, the windows, boot lid, trunk lid and doors will be removed (plus anything else that can be removed)
The car will be back to bear metal

It was done using a hammer and dolly

old primer every where, the arches there is some filler for the time being.

i hate to say this, but i feel you were told the car would be stripped to bare metal, the top of the passenger side fender, for one, isnt... you are getting mud over top of old paint, and that spells trouble down the road. look closely at the pictures, you can see black paint, and also primer thru the filler.

I second that. Having a professional shop strip your car to bare metal is usually big bucks. Around here, North-East U.S.A., a complete strip and paint = $10,000 to $15,000. The type of paint job you seem to be getting (not stripped to bare metal) = $3,000 to $8,000. Not sure how that translates into UK currency.

OK, hold your chariot there guys.
First thing first, the car is still at the body work phase

Second, once all the gaps are done and everything is alligned, everything WILL be removed.

I will post some pictures to proove you wrong.
It's a slow process (my choice).

It's not finished.... wait 'til next update with the fenders and everything else back to metal..... you'll see

As a bodyman, what I'm seeing makes no sense. If the car is to be stripped, you are just wasting labor block sanding and applying filler. Since a complete panel stripping includes removing all filler, all that work will need to be redone. Gap adjusting and bodywork is always done after you start with bare metal. And you wouldn't put filler on and strip around it, stripper will eat into filler. And I agree with chromedog, I see filler over paint, a definite no-no.
