I have a 96 gt with a 97 cobra engine in it. My car also has an sct tuner a flowmaster catback a fidanza lightweight flywheel a bbk cold air and in a paycheck or two I should finally have enough for aluminum pullies a aluminum driveshaft gears(either 4.10's or 4.30's) and an accufab single blade throttle body. I should be able to keep up with my friends SS right?Or am I terribly mistaken? The SS is stock.

I don't even think they made an SS in 1996. 1998 was the first year and they were LS1's.

They had 96 and 97s, kinda rare from what my camaro buddies told me.

You should beat him farely easily as long as you can drive. Just get the gear put in there, that is the only thing hurting your set up right now.

The 4th Generation Camaro(93-2002) had an SS starting in 1996. It had the LT1 motor in it and was on par with a stock Cobra. The only rare Camaro SS from 96-02 was the 1997 30th Anniversary SS. There were 100 of them with a LT4 in them which were quicker and made more power than a LT1 which for 96/97 was rated for 305hp.

With your mods and he is stock, you should beat him.
