Engine My TF Stage 1 cam has no end play?

Freshly machine 302 with new cam bearings and a new TF stage 1 cam. Installed factory thrust plate and torqued bolts to 130 in lbs. I installed the cam sprocket to check end play and there is none at all. Cam will not move in/out whatsoever. When I turn the cam sprocket by hand I do not feel any binding at all. Any of you guys ever run into this issue? I know Ford wants at least .001 of end play.

Not to sound rude,but did you put a dial gauge on it and then measure ? .001 Ain' t much.

Maybe try adding .001" or .002" shim stock between the thrust plate/cam and see if you can still turn the cam freely,this will help confirm exactly where your clearance is at or if you truly have any at all.

Fixed guys. I had to mill .005 off the thrust plate, now I have .005 cam end play.

It would be interesting to know if the cam was long or what the issue was.
Did you do just a cam swap, or was this in a block that had other machine work, as in prep for a rebuild? Was the cam thrust plate new?

Brand new tf stage 1 cam
Original block and cam thrust plate
Block was just machined and new cam bearings and plugs.
New comp cam timing chain and sprocket
