My turn... sold the stang

Honestly with rims and a system, they are pretty cool.. i was/am considering getting one as a daily driver to my "future" stang.. gotta get that first! LOL!

wow. a scion. poop on that. i dont think those things will ever be cool and mature. at least a got a BMW, and i bet it gets better mileage then that moving barn door of a scion.

You will alwasys regret it... Take my word for it, I sold the stang (96 Cobra) because I thought I needed to while I was in Nursing School. The money I saved with a different car was really negligble in the long run. If you absolutely feel like you have to sell your car, make sure that you are really happy with whatever else you get. The year I went without a mustang was without a doubt the worst year of my life.

I don't see how kids in college can afford a V8 Mustang anyway. When I was in college, I could barely afford to own a car at all. Didn't buy mine till I was 33, after I had a good job and a nice house. Must be all those Bush tax cuts trickling down.

Yeah...I can't figure it out either. I'm 28 and just bought mine after being in my career for 3 years. But I probably could have afforded it, was just too chicken chit to commit to that high of a monthly payment. Took me 10 years to commit to a woman....and I still second-guess that every time I watch Baywatch reruns.

Credit cards. Lots and lots of credit cards. And, of course, the willingess of car dealers to give large loans out.

When I went to college, a lot of my friends had a lot less money than I do (from income...) but had nicer cars. A few times I'd ask them how they did it; most replied that they use credit cards for their daily expenses and their actual money goes to their car payment and insurance.

Most 20 yearold kids in college who own a brand new (or so) GT have very little to nothing in savings and carry a very high revolving credit line; at least the 10 or 15 I knew at UCD. More than my personal experience I am just assuming, but it's a warranted one.

Just my 2 Euro worth on the matter.

Man....I came out of college with 5k on credit cards and thought that was bad. But then again I knew I had to goto grad school and was in it for the long haul. 8 years of college....its all worth it now. 3 years of working and I have my stang...and a new boat to go along with it! And no credit cards to pay off

I bought a new Supra when i was in College. I did work full time in the off season (football) and part time during the season and had free tuition/perks from my scholarship so that helped. I didn't fall into the credit card trap like alot of kids. Most kids had new cars bought from their Parents and some just had to pay for fuel or insurance...my parents were Poor so i worked hard for my rides.

I built a Scion Xb online just now and added the options I thought I'd need and it came to about 18.5k ...that's what I paid for my new '05 SRT-4, but I had to drive about 125 miles to get it. Just thought I'd mention the SRT-4 if you still wanted some performance with your gas savings at a cheap price. Didn't expect much from the car when I went to look at it, but I was impressed after I drove it. Had the Viper style seats and it felt pretty fast and even being a 4 door it felt more solid than my '02 Mustang (with subframe connectors) and is a pretty good daily driver. Getting 29MPG when I stay out of the boost - 153MPH top speed, most "stock" ones I see are running 13.8 and 13.9 @ 102-103ish. Stage 2 and I'll be low 13's and have less than 20k in the car and almost be able to keep up with my brother's '05 GTO - Stage 3 and I should be able to walk him...and I'll only have about 23k invested. It'll hold me over till the next generation Mustang comes out...

Im in college going to be a senior in the fall and im 20 and have no problem buying and modding a mustang. I have a 97 but bought it cash after and I still had my 95 Probe GT that i sold for 7K at the time.

I have a decent job that i work like 25 hrs a week and have no credit card debt and my parents dont pay for anything including college. I also have a 94 saturn and a 95 Eddie Bauer Exploder and am under my own insurance and as soon as i sell my explorer Im gonna buy a gixxer 600.

Its not hard if you want something work for it

I can think of twenty cars off the top of my head that don't look like a box on skateboard wheels.

I don't know how you look at a XB and think " thats a quality well built car" it looks like a toy. everything is tiny and undersized compared to the huge box body.

Get a bike.

ha yeah i bought mine when i was in the last semester of college, thought it was a good graduation gift to myself, ha well i finally got in my carrer almost 2 years later, i pay a buttload for my stang but its worth it, even though i did have thoughts of selling it being after my mods list i want to do, its huge, but then i realized im only 25 the cars not going anywhere and i have all the time in the world to get it done, im actually looking for something to replace the stang as a daily driver, so i can put it with the Trans Am i own and make them the weekend/summer beasts.
