My window won't roll up.

68 fastback.

My driver side window won't roll up.

For years it's been really stiff to roll up and I've had to pull up on the glass while I crank to close it. I tried lubricating all the moving parts inside but that didn't help.

Now it only goes up 1" and won't crank anymore. I can grab the glass and it's loose, meaning not jammed but the crank will not move.

I also have alot of play in the crank. I have almost one complete turn of play in it.

What is the crank part called?

Do you think that's what's wrong?

Is it a major pain in the butt to change?

I have the door pannel off right now.

I do have the ford shop manual to look at.

Please help cause I can't wash the car to go cruising!

Thanks guys!

the window crank part is called the window regulator. I had to replace mine because I had the exact same problem. The gears in the regulator could be stripped, thats the problem I had, and once I replaced it it was back to normal. You might also want to check the window rollers and see if your missing any or if any are broken.
