Ok su upon me stripping the shell over the weekend, when gutting the inside and taking out the harness etc i came accross that blue box gimmich next to the fuse panel...

I ahvent opend it yet as it was late when i had gotten done.. but just what the hell is it for? it had vacuum lines running to it and a few electrical connections...

pic? no idea WTH you're talking about. could be some kind of cruise control part, mileage computer, any number of things. blue box gimmick isn't very descriptive. i have a blue box gimmick thing but it's a headlights on reminder

probably, yeah. i'd still like to see a pic of it, maybe it's something i want to add to my collection of other aftermarket junk, maybe not though. if it has vacuum lines i'd have to say it's probably some sort of cruise control module or mileage minder or something. i've got a bunch of stuff like that in the garage. i guess i might be a historian of 70's aftermarket car junk.

Secret test version of Playstation 3....a box that doesn't get enough sex could have a condition known as "blue box"...low income Smurf housing...blue light district of the roach motels...secret liquor holder with a tube that looks like vacuum tube that actually runs to a secret compartment juicing the dirver with a flip of a switch to give him "liquid courage" during a high speed chase where Boss Hogg is after him or her...a cardboard box that has been painted Ford blue and had some stuff attached to it to mess with you head...

Seriously, if it has vacuum lines and wires, I would trace them. It could be a desireable option that is partially missing. Do Not Trash.

i'm not aware aof any factory option anything that would vacuum lines and electrical wires under the dash. most likely aftermarket something or other.

interesting, definitely post some pics so we can help you determine what it is.

The part you describe is part of a carburator dashpot control, there should also be a silver transister mounted on the drivers' door frame. This system was installed in many mustangs I've seen in wrecking yards in So Cal. You could leave it in and disconnected. Taking it out would let water in the cabin.

Well not if i fill all of the holes up ;)

Thanks alot VC!!!!

I took pics of it today...and tomorrow morn i will host them and post em...all thats inside of it is a circuit board and some sort of reader for the vacuum..it DEFINITLY ties into the stock harness...no one else has seen this before?

I can definitly see the carb thing...the vacuum line came out RIGHT behind where ther carb would be on the fire wall...then routed to the area by the fuse box...
