Mysterious hole below driver's mirror on 68 vert

Has anyone ever seen a hole of about this size in about this place before? Seems like an odd place for an emblem. I never noticed it before, and unfortunately my body man didn't notice it until after primer, paint, and clear. Any advice you guys might have on what it's for or what to do now would be appreciated!

well...i had a hole like that...turned out about 3 square inches was just junk metal, all rusted out......hope its not that....

It could be a hole somebody drilled earlier to pull a dent? It was probably filled with bondo and your body mans sanding and banging probably knocked it loose. A little pressure from a paint gun blast likely blew it the rest of the way out My 2 pennies.

Those are plausible explanations, only thing certain is that it was not a factory option
