I want to get 400 to 450 rwhp out of my 2005 Mustang GT. I already have installed a steeda CAI, BBK long tube headers and x-pipe with high flow cats, Bassani Race Exhaust, and Tune from Brenspeed. I am looking at going N/A or with a supercharger. If I go N/A I will add on C&L's new intake manifold, a mono blade throttle body from evolution performance, heads from Livernois Motorsports, and a cam but i am not sure of what one to get at this time. If I go with a supercharger I am looking at either the new Edelbrock E-Force kit or a Saleen SuperShaker. Which way will be the safeist, easist, and cheapist way to make 400 to 450 rwhp without rebuilding the engine? All input is welcome. If I go N/A what would be the best pick for a cam if i still want good drivablility?

The supercharger is going to give you a better power band than N/A, but N/A is fun just because you get to laugh at the people who used a supercharger to get where you are. 450 rwhp probably won't be possible NA, not without a few more cubes.

Based on your criteria I would say go with a supercharger. There aren't many N/A 3v motors making 400+ RWHP. To get there you will pretty much be rebuilding the engine. With most supercharger kits you won't have to tear into much at all.

natrurally aspirated will be hard to do that. But any blower kit and you can easily do it.
Why would you want an Edelbrock supercharger? There are other choices that are more proven. Saleen is also at issue beacuse of their warranty. I would look at Kenne Bell, Whipple and Techco if it was me looking now.

I would go N/A, better on fuel and I would be mad if I my blown car got beat by an all motor car.
You should consider a stroker crank also for the N/A combo.

set up and what you want;

I have good track and some wicked top end w/ 4.56's and 6 speed even though only 360/340...

Do what you know you want... if you do what others suggest, get ready for heartbreak/wallet break.

Best advice... find 3 or 4 people you like their cars, pm them for some specifics, narrow your choices and make the best that suits YOU

Best of luck!

Dude, adding stroke to your engine won't give you any more horsepower. It might give you more torque and run your powerband lower in the RPM range, but CI has nothing to do with horsepower if you are running the same bore and engine/head design. And 450 RWHP isn't hard at all N/A unless you are on a budget. Hell, with those Livernois stage 3 heads and cam combo as well as the mods you already mentioned with a good tune will get you the power you want right now. Hell, I have seen 600 HP motors built N/A from Livernois. Anyway, for daily driveability, reliability and the power you are looking at, a Kenne Bell 2.6L kit will get you over 500 RWHP and be more reliable than a Cummins Turbodeisel. You will get that power with less than 9 pounds of boost and the money you invest will be less than rebuilding the entirety of your engine to make it N/A. The 2.6L kit comes with everything you need, you won't need to buy a single extra piece.

$ for $, a supercharger is the easiest way to 400-450 rwhp. Staying N/A is cool, but when you add up the cost to get the #'s you want, it would have been as cheaper (and likely cheaper) to just do a blower in the first place!

While so many people say the latest group of twin screw blowers are"best," keep in mind that you can easily hit your power goals with a tried and true centrifugal blower for a lot less money. And, drivability is great as there's little boost when cruising, yet wicked boost is close at hand with some revs.

And what happens when the vette is modded (cammed or blown)?

Huh? Show me one single 4.6 with 450 RWHP that isnt using forced induction? Just one please?
Livernois has a 600 RWHP N/A three valve? That is news. I saw their magazine artcile that faked 450 RWHP with cams and heads and that was obviously false data.

That's not going to be easy, even with a blower. They run very well right out of the box and are lighter! It's truly a world class car. It's not your fathers Corvette...

I've raced two different '08 Vettes at our local dragstrip. One had drag radials and was being bracket raced often last year. The other had street tires. Both were automatics. My VERY mild non-intercooled 07 GT automatic ran side by side with both Vettes, as all three of us ran 12.30's all day. So, pick a wilder blower than mine, and you'd be beating stock Corvettes, not just matching them like I do.
