Ok, i basically have two options:

I have a 98 gt vert with a 00 GT motor, full exhaust, pullys, etc etc. Basically every bolt on. All thats now is blower, or head/cam work.

Option 1: stage 3 heads from TEA, and comp stage 2 cams, step up to 4:10's from the current 373's

Option 2: Novi 2k, TEA stage 3 heads, leave stock cams, stay with 373's

I hjave run a current best of 13.62 on 17" nitto dr's and a failing t-45 trans.
Which option would you stick with. Im leaning towards blower b/s id love to just walk away from cobras, vettes, etc, but the heads/cams work would be unoticeable and would probably be more reliable and take more abuse the the blower would. Either way a new forged shortblock will go in so i can beat it to hell with some peace od mind.

So what do YOU say?

Blower

I had the same options you have right now and i choose the blower and have been 100% happy with my choice. i have 8000 miles on my new motor and it is showing no signs of slowing down. However i have been kicking myself in the butt for not doing the heads at the same time for because1. the power lost 2. the amount of work it takes to replace the heads after blower is installed and the cost, you end up paying gaskets, & dyno time twice. Either way the car will be fun to drive.

What Im about to say Im sure most of the other guys will agree with.

Blower = More power for the dollar but will most likely last less than the n/a route would.

N/A = Less power than boost, but more reliable power in terms of longivity.

Since your putting in a forged block, I wouldnt be as worried about something being demolished like you would with the stock block. Therefore, I say if you just want power and dont care how you get it and if you can afford it right now, go with the boost. If you want in-conspicuous/ hidden power that will allow you to compete in n/a competitions and you want long, reliable power, then go n/a.

Just my .02 cents.

LOL, damn you guy are killing me! Its alwys a 50/50 split down the middle, and now im still undecided. I mean the cost factor is VERY close between the two options. The s/c only total a little more b/c of gauges and whatnot. I have a feeling that a S/C will bring along headaches that i'd rather not have. Belt slip, blower rebuild, etc. I mean it would be nice to have 500hp on command but i know that with that much powe i'd have a lead foot. Also be a bit difficult to have traction on the street if i stomped it

Get a blower read my sig. Just a matter of where you want to make power and how much money you got.

1 thing Cams..
NA and SC are differnt grinds.. So if you go the NA and get a NA setup cam.. then when you get the superchager later, the SC might not perform as well as it could..
And if you get the cam setup for a SC now then you might have some trouble staying NA for awhile...

I would Supercharge it.. with no head work IMO you have PI heads..
you wont see that much of a gain on just heads and SC with out the cams..
Id just save the money and get heads and cams later and enjoy the 400rwhp

Just talk to Tim..

I vote for the blower, now I could be wrong because I am still new to these modern computer controlled cars. But, in the past I have built a few carbed setups. In both cases these cars were my daily drivers. It seemed everytime I started changing things around I always made one thing better and something else worse. You start swaping good flowing heads on and you lose that low end grunt. Change the cam and you end up with a car that does not idle well (sounds cool as heck) and is a pain to get going in the winter. Then before you know it your gas mileage is shot. Now with the blower. You don't lose your low end. It still has the stock drivability, and your gas mileage does not change unless you use your right foot all of the time. Now like I was saying. This is coming from my experience with older cars so it may not be relevant any more, but it is just a thought.

The cam point was a good one. I totally forgot about that. Yes, there is a difference between n/a grinds and boosted grinds in the cam department. However, you can get a cam that can compensate for both. As mentioned above, talking to Tim(Cobra Killer) would be a good idea. If you cant get him on here, try contacting him at www.modularfordpowerhouse.com and see if you cant get in touch with him there. If you cant get in contact with him, try contacting Sean Hyland Motorsports or Houston Performance. They can help you as well.
