Yep, I remember those days... had a 68 Mustang Fastback back in the '70s with 289 punchout to 292, CRANE 286 cam, Edelbrock Torker intake Offset with 600 Holley, cyclone headers, and B&M C-4 trans.

68 used a 8" with drop in center section, big block got the 9" but they didn't have C clips, bolt on retainer on the axle, I have seen retainers fail on an 8" and the axle leave the party ( or was the 'party' just getting started when it exited?) I didn't watch all of it.

Someone prolly just didn't put the nuts on that hold the retainer that's why they took off the other side, to steal a couple nuts to hold the left side on till they got back and replaced them, they ain't gonna admit they forgot the nuts on that side, C clip my ass. Oh, actually don't do that

Yeah.. Axle had the pressed on bearing figure retainer plate got left out.... But they said c clip broke dude was just driving and it walked right on by lol.
