Starting sometime Monday afternoon my car started vibrating wildly and it gets worse all the way up through the RPMs. I've determined the motor mounts are in good shape and the balancer looks OK. I'm thinking maybe the flywheel threw a weight or something. Any ideas???

Do you feel the vibes if revving the motor with the car not moving?

Yes.

If I hold the RPMs around 1500 with the car sitting still it feels like the fillings are going to come out of my teeth.

take a visual of the balancer. Look for the elastomer coming out, cracked, jacked up in some way. Look for a slipped ring. It's not uncommon for it to look like someone hit one part of the outer ring with a hammer (pushing it toward the TC).

And DONT drive the car anymore till it is fixed. If on a budget, the Pioneer non-SFI unit it decent (3021 part number, IIRC). PP makes decent balancers IMHO too. Both are sub-100 bucks.

Good luck.

What flywheel/pressure plate are you running?

I'll look at it again but at my first glance it looked pretty OK...

Another one of my fears is that I'm already on the way to a custom 2 piece crankshaft... from the time I notcied the problem to the time I got home it had gotten CONSIDERABLY worse.
