need 02 sensor help quick

ok im just curious about some 02 sensors. ok so dont slam me for this ok. i have a bronco 2, i stuck a 302 in it. i used my friend parkers harness and computer. it still had the 02 sensors with it. and i used them. now granted they might be from 89, i dont know if he ever changed em, i just know about 4-5 years ago he changed to carb, and the harness sat in his garage till last summer when i got them. well the other day i was doin the regular maintainance and noitced that my pass side 02 connector had fallin off the frame and on to the header collector. so its melted and gone. i have no idea how long its been like that, but i have noticed that in the last 3 months my truck has started smoking a little bit, usually get a big puff on start up and a little while driving. and god forbid ever sitting at a red light with the windows down and that goes for anybody within a 3 car distance. the exhasut will just about make you pass out and burns the hell outta the eyes. however it doesnt have cats on it either. but it used to not be that bad either. does it sound like my 02 sensors are shot, not including the melted one (thats a given that theres no connection there). are the autozone ones ok?? 60 bux for a pair bosch with 1 yr warranty. if all is what i think it is and someone confirms this for me, ill head on out and get em.

o2 sensors here are about $50 a piece, replace them..if they're broken it can mess with the cars computer some, otherwise it can cause your car to run rich or lean im not sure which, chances are your motor is running rich thats why all that smoke is coming out

Bad O2 sensors put out less that the optimum voltage, making the computer think the engine is running lean. The computer tries to adjust by lengthening the time the injector squirts fuel. It squirts too much fuel, and makes the air/fuel mixture too rich. This makes the engine run rough at idle, get poor gas mileage and sometimes gives the eye burning gas smell.
