Need 8.8" rear info

hey everyone

does anyone know off hand the diffrence in length of a 94-98 8.8" rear and 99 to 04 rear end? I am converting my V6 to a V8 and I would like to know if I can get away with using a SN95's 8.8, for that matter I also heard the 8.8 used in the lincoln mark VII LSC was wider than the fox mustangs, anyone know if the width would be close to what I need cause those would be cheap to come by

I have always been told that the difference was about 1.5 inches total(so 3/4 inch per side). I don't know about the rear end from the Lincoln but I"d imagine you'd have to change a bunch of control arm brackets to make the swap possible.

The 94-95 8.8 is the same as the fox 8.8 in size the 96 and up from what im told is 3/4 wider on both sides. Hope this helps!

The housing is the same, but 94/95 axles are longer than 93 and earlier axles. I think the difference is 3/4" on each axle.

if they are its not noticable direct bolt up can't tell the differance.

If you stand the axles up side by side on the floor, you can easily see the difference. The axles are longer to accomodate the disc brakes on the rear of the 94+ cars.
