Centerforce dual friction. I am currently running one. Holds up to 4500rpm launches on slicks and is very nice on the street.

+1 on the centerforce... I had that on the notch, great clutch feels almost like the stock one but will grab like a mofo... I currently have a king cobra and I'm not a big fan of it... my left leg is starting to get bigger than my right.

+2 on the CenterForce.... I'm lovin' mine. Haven't ran it at the track yet ( going in about 3 hours ) but it's a whole new machine on the street.

Good luck at the track, sounds like it will pull pretty good with 300+ hp!

Hopefully... I'll just be lucky to get traction now with the more power and the new gears.

Centerforce and spending the money on one is well worth it...shell out the extra $100 and have a softer/smoother pedal that holds more power

go with the king cobra...works really well on the street and holds good for the track on the weekends....its not much stiffer than the stock clutch either....i have chicken legs and hold it down just fine...lol....it just has a little more push against your foot than the stocker

Most people I have seen complain about teh King Cobra pedal effort either have an aftermarket adj cable or completely stock quadrant. Get a Fiora or UPR quick click firewall adjuster, UPR or MM quadrant, and an OEM cable from either MM or even better get the clutch linkage upgrade kit from Jegs - it comes with an OEM cable and a new clutch fork to boot all for about the same cost as MM charges for just the cable.

Anyway with that stuff installed the King Cobra is not bad at all in my car. Back when I had an aftermarket adj cable though it was WRETCHED, it was torture to push in the clutch.

I like the King Cobra. Have a aftermarket quadrant and a firewall adjuster. It is alittle stiff, but I am used to it now. I can't compare it to anything else because mine had an AOD untill about 2 months ago. So for me, any clutch is better than the AOD. Of course the Nitto tires dont like it.

Hey, not meaning to hijack the thread or anything, but...

I've got a stock shifter, clutch cable, and a new clutch (new as of like 15k ago. Guy I bought the car from put it in so I don't know what it is)

Anyway, when shifting the shifter snags going into gear. Sometimes it snags so bad it won't even go into gear and I have to retry the gear.
Would this be a shifter, clutch cable, or clutch problem? What would everyone suggest I do to fix it?

sounds like your cable is stretched. if you have a stock quadrant, pull up on the clutch pedal. you'll feel it "click" to adjust itself a bit.

i have a king cobra in mine. i just traded/sold a centerforce dual friction clutch i had lying around, just the other week. both are great clutches. the grab is almost the same between the two. i picked to stay with my king cobra because the centerforce is too soft for my liking. the mustang is an american made, cable clutched car. it's gotta have a stiff clutch! that's what makes it american! i always feel weird when i drive like a 5 speed honda or something. my mustang always gives me that feeling of muscle when driving with a stiffer clutch. so in other words, i like it.

I didn't read all the posts but I saw you asked about the Spec..

I have a Spec in my '90 (mild work 300hp) & I'm not too fond of it. I'm running a Centerforce Dual Friction in my '87 with 500hp & it is a street car. I like the CF way better..
