I recently purchased my 97 Cobra, got it home, and realized I had no turn signals or brake lights. I found that the fuse was blown and put a new one in. Everytime I have the turnsignals on and the brake pedal depressed, it will blow the same fuse. It is an intermitant problem. It seems like the longer you hold the brake pedal, it seems to blow. I have a feeling its in the brake light circuit and not the turn signal, because it only blows when the brake lights are on with the turn signals, not just the trun signals or just the brake lights. Anyway, I replaced everything that I could thing of, turn signal flasher, multifunction switch, and the brake light switch, none of which fixed the problem. I also checked the wires with an ohm meter for short to ground, but turned up with nothing. I am very frusterated because I cant drive my new car. It almost seems like the circuit is being overloaded, and the fuse is blowing, and I was always taught never to put a higher amperage fuse in to put a band-aid on the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I'm going through a pretty lengthy and toublesome turn signal/brake light prob myself. I am now in the "waiting on a part" mode, but I will try to help ya.
I am looking at a '99 diagram , which might be slightly different than your Cobra's wiring but on this diagram, fuses #33 and #41 are involved. Is this correct for your car ?
Also, did you check the main ground connection ? - should be on the top left (driver's side ) of the engine comaprtment.

could be your ground.
If the person that owned it before you put after market tail lights on it, they may have fudged up the wiring some how and crossed few wires.
Some times pepole will put a toggle switch in to kill the brake lights when they do street racing- if not done right it would cause you to blow a fuse or two- so check under the dash for a toggle as well.

I had the same issue when I did the sequential tails in my car. I found that the new light bulb socket I added was pinching the wires between it and the body of the car causing the fuse to pop. Might be worth while to pull the tails off and carefully check all the wires,even if they'e factory. Look for any frayed or exposed wiring and repair as needed.

Short between the break light and signal light. I would pull lights and check there wiring harness.
