Need a new bellhousing.Which one do I need?

Iv got a 65 gt with an original C4.When I installed the new motor I used the wrong flexplate. Now Iv got a huge crack in the side and have to replace the flexplate and bellhousing.I cant afford a top of the line one so I figured I pick one up at the junkyard for 30$(already checked the price).Do I need the one that bolts to the case,to the pump and theres something about a cable that runs on top of it or something?Anyone got an Idea? And if it does bolt to the pump,do I need to remove the pump to change it.If so then are there any speacialty tools I need?

if you have a early 65 you might need a 5 bolt bell, after early 65 they changed to a 6 bolt. count what you have. You should have a 157 tooth flex with the c4, I think the early 65 flex is 152 teeth but they are rare and no one makes these so go with a 157. as for a cable, I havent seen any 65 or 66 stangs with a trany cable. I think your parts man has chevy on the brain.

Make sure you don't get a 164 tooth bell. Very hard to tell a 164 from a 157 tooth bell. No special tools needed to swap them. Best way to insure you get the right bell, is to bring your block spacer plate with you. The starter location is slightly different between the two bellhousings.
