I know there is a setting on the tuner to turn off the plates themselves. However, give bren (brenspeed.com) or doug (bamachips.com) a call and listen to what they have to say.

I spoke with Paul, from Paul's high performance on Friday and asked if there was any possibility of getting an instruction sheet from him ? and also brought up the question about the Frpp delete's requiring custom tuning ?? And his reply was that you'll get better perfomance with a re-tune but he also claims you can use the FRPP delete plates with the stock tune as well ? although again, he recommends to get the most out of them ?? you should reflash the ECM..I honestly don't know if he's right or wrong about this ? But from what I do know about him is..he's been around for a very long time and has installed the delete plates for some of his customers since they became available.. I also understand that FRPP recommends their local customers to Paul, for all their custom tuning needs as well..

Definitely get a new tune. I put mine in a few weeks ago. You may also want to look into a separator (Cheap protection) for the drivers side, seems that we are pulling some oil into the intakes. After more than 40K miles, mine were pretty grungy!

If you have a canned SCT tune, then you have the user option of a cmrc delete tune. This not only turns off the check engine light & disables the cmrc motor, but it also loads new spark & fuel tables. SCT developed this bin file and it's not really a bad tune at all.

However if you already have a tuner with a "custom" or mail-order tune loaded in it, then you will have to get a retune. Some shops will retune for free if you bought your tune from them.

But yes you need a tune from somebody for the cmrc deletes.

Although a re-tune is recommened, it's not a mandatory requirement..If you re-read post #4 you can also use the Frpp delete plates w/stock tune if desired ? but to get the most out of them.. you would be much better off with a custom or canned tune..
