A local performance shop sells the 2.80 pulley kit and they said they will install it but they risk damaging the blower when removing the stock pulley....????

Has anyone ever heard of any shops saying this?

They said they use a (Press) to remove the stock pulley.

Advice plz,

Thanks

I'd stay away from them. I wouldn't call a pulley puller a press so they must be going to pull the snout and put it in a press. I met a guy at Bristol last year that had the pulley change the same way. A few weeks later the blower started puking up parts of the screw. Apparently the endcap that holds the bearing was damage. I wouldn't want my blower snout pulled just for a pulley when there is another method.

A pulley puller is designed to not put any stress on the blower shaft. You could go to www.svtperformance.com and see if anyone in your area that may have one and would loan it to you.

Thanks for the advice!

Second question:

I ordered the pulley kit, CAI, MLH, X-pipe, and catback...

I want to put on some Nitto Drag radials when its all done but will my IRS hold up?

Thanks

I've got around 30 passes on my Nittos so far and haven't had a problem yet except for getting the damn Nittos to hook . My best 60 with them so far has been a 1.94 , I was pulling that kind of 60 on my F1's . I do have an extra half shaft laying around for when I do break one . I'm planning on ordering the Drive Shaft Shop Level 2 upgraded halfshafts very soon .

Also go ahead and buy you a good pulley puller it's worth it . http://www.billetflow.com/Pulley_Puller.htm

...

I have been through a set of Nittos and two sets of BFG DRs...and i mean through...down to the radial material...no more rubber left when I replaced them! Hundreds of runs and no broken rear yet. Yet....

I know people with slicks who are trying for really fast 60fts and people with DRs or slicks and more power than me have broken half shafts or rear diffs.

I have seen two stock 03s break the rear too and each one had bad wheel hop and didnt get off the gas.

I run 434hp 496TQ at the wheels with my mods and have not broken anything in 9000 miles of mostly racing. You should be fine if you are smart about your driving. if you get wheel hop, get off the gas quick.

Its funny that so many people say they find it strange that they break their Half shafts or rear on the road...not at the strip. i think thats because people fool around and floor it on the street and thats where you get the most wheel hop from fully inflated and usually cold tires on a cold surface...

Im thinking abot trying the MickeyThompson DRs that are coming out soon.
