Due to clearance issues, I have removed the factory water-cooled oil cooler from a '99-'00 Cobra engine (see pic). Once it's out of the way, it's obvious to see how to hook up the oil filter (or in my case, remote oil filter adapter), but what do I need to do with the coolant line? Did non-Cobras have a different piece here that the lower radiator hose hooked up to or what? I guess non-Cobras didn't have this block, so they're probably totally different.

I'm going to run an external oil cooler and remote oil filter instead.

See other pic for what the area looks like without the oil cooler on.

I'd love to see a pic of this area on someone's GT. Thanks in advance for the help guys!

GTs have a different oil filter adapter. You can get one new from Ford, but try so junkyards.
You can see a picture here: http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com...d=248&osCsid=46e05bbc0aa99662d57ca79069882dad

Also, your oil cooler setup goes for about 80 dollars on eBay, so you might find someone with a GT who would just switch with you. You get the clearance, and the other guy gets a nice cooling mod for his GT.

I am in the process of putting one of these oil coolers on my Saleen.

Hmmm. 150 bananas from SHM.

It looks like the radiator hose hooks up in about the same location and everything. Is this so?

I may be willing to trade complete assemblies straight up with someone who wants to upgrade their GT. The cooler unit I have is $200 from SHM, plus another $200 for the adapter to bolt it to the block. Wow!

The hose does hook up in approximately the same location.

You should be able to call any ford dealer parts department and get that number. If you shop arounnd, I gaurantee you can beat SHM's prices, they are pretty steep!

EDIT: Ok, I have the part #
The GT oil filter adaptor (without the cooler) YR3Z-6881-BA $144.00

gasket is F6AZ-6840-AA $9.00
Definitely get a new gasket, otherwise it could leak.

I have the part numbers for the cobra oil cooler parts as well. The GT oil filter adaptor uses a shorter lower bolt, but I dont have the part # for that, sorry.

Thanks a ton!

Thanks for all of the good info. I was especially pleased with the 8 minute turnaround between my first question and an accurate, extremely helpful answer. Wish this place had feedback like eBay :D
