Need advice on mini tubbing

I have a 67 fastback that was just restored but without the minitubes installed. How hard is it to install? I wanted to go as close to the springs or frame as possible without cutting the frame. I am looking to install 325-15 MT drag radials. Car is powered by a 427 Windsor with 2 stages of nitrous.

Don't have the answer to your question.
But it sure sounds like you are going to need that extra beef under the rear end

Does it have the original wheel wells in the car still? Cut 'em out, add a strip of steel as wide as you need to clear the tire and weld it up.

It's fairly easy if you take your time, have a grinder, and have a welder.

Is any of it installed yet ? Or does something need to be finished ? reason I ask is you can get a 315, maybe even a 325 back witout a mini tub as is with that year.

With perfect backspacing and lip rolling alone? Or would you have to go to a different suspension type other than leafs?

I am interested in running big meats too... Thanks.

Both. You can still run the leafs, too.

What about on a 66? Shorten the rear a little?

On a 66 your SOL brother. Need a mini tub for that car. 275 is pretty much the max on that one

how tall of a tire are you guys running? The MT's are12.9" sidewall width and 11.9" treead width and 30" tall. The motor I am installing runs on pump fuel on one stage or 100 octane on both stages. Both stages make 850 hp with 800 torque and those numbers are with to small of a carb. i am switching to a 1050 dominator and lookin for the magical 1000hp.

Oh no. I just don't know exactly what it is. It's Rich's car (12sec67). I believe he has the measurement up somewhere around here.It's a rearend narrowed like .250 on each side shorter than a 65-66 rear. But that's about all I know.

At 30in tall, you'll need a mini tub and to suck that tire in. If you could get that width to fit, the hieght would have a problem at the back of the rocker panels.

Theres no hope? Then what kind of backspacing/offset would I need to fit 10" on it?

I plan on shortening the rear end too, what is a good place to stop? I was thinking right at the brake plate?

Sorry. I didn't see this had come back up.On my 67 I run a 15x10 with 7in backspace. That sets the tire in a wee bit of the fender. Your average tuck, nothin' special.
Best bet is to get the rims and tires you want, then throw them in there to see exactly what is needed. Probably gonna need to take threar end out. Once you have them in there, measure the mounting points of the rims. This will be your OVERALL measurement. From there, decide on brakes andt that will give you the rearend flange to flange measurements
