Hey guys so I took the car out to the track today wondering what you guys think. I am pretty disappointed but I think it is due to my driving.

Here is my setup: Stock bottom end 170k miles, trickflow streetheat intake, gt40p heads, TFS stage 1 cam, MAC longtubes, o/r xpipe, under drive pullies, 3.73 gears, with MT ET Streets

My best time out there was 13.10 @104.87 mph with a 1.822 60'.

Now the guy next to me ran a 12.6 @ 104 with a 1.7 60' so I know it's got 12's in it but I was running low 13's consistantely all night with 1.8ish 60'. Is this all the car has in it? Should I keep practicing driving or should I start looking at more mods?

I was running the tires at 10psi avoided the water box and did a good 2nd gear burnout.

Any input?

any suspension mods? if not a decent set of upper and lower control arms for the rear will lower that 60 foot and 12's would be easy

105 MPH sounds about right for those mods with a "better than average" driver. The intake + heads are holding you back from an extra 35-40 RWHP, which pushes you up there with the "better than average" driving h/c/i combos doing 108-109 MPH.

Your MPH is what is important here, because it shows the power to the ground. Don't worry about E.T.

mob, post the incrementals...the 330 and 1/8mile are important, it will tell you if the car is leaning over on the top.

FWIW, I went 12.87 @ 104mph, 1.61 60ft

Alright Rick here is my full slip:

60': 1.822
330: 5.547
1/8: 8.392
mph: 82.95
1000: 10.951
1/4: 13.105
mph: 104.87

Any input would be good, I am not sure what else to do off the line. Should I dump the clutch or should I slip it? First couple runs I was dumping it from like 4k rpm, then later on I tried slipping it a little but my 60' didn't really change.

What size are the ET Streets? FWIW, the E Street like more air then most tires per MT, I had good luck with 12-14 psi HOT

ride the clutch out... you dont have the power to drive though a dead hook...

That's about right with those mods. The GT40p heads are OK but their not AFR 165's, TFS Twisted Wedge, etc. If you had these heads you'd be in the 12.80 range easily. Also the stock suspension is the key to getting into the 12's. Upper / lower control arms is a start but look into upgrading more like subframes, springs, etc. Like mentioned dumping the clutch at 4K with the stock suspension probably isn't helping your time.

Rick the tires are 26x10.5x15. I did start off at 12psi and lowered them to 10 and didnt notice a difference in 60' times.

I think the 1/8th is about right but its nosing over up top based on the mph... where are you shifting? Where are you crossing?

Id run a 9" tire, the 10.5" are actually a little wide for that combo, and the Pro-kit isnt ideal for letting the suspension travel. Do you know what the pinion angle is?

I use to leave at 5000rpm on my old MH Racemasters with a SPEC Stage 3, let it fly and held on..lol Car nearly dead hooked and would go 1.60x consitant, it had Eibach drag launch kit, 70/30, 50/50, 3:73 gears with SSM lowers and welded uppers, stock motor.

ride the clutch out... you dont have the power to drive though a dead hook...

There is some truth to that statment, you need to stay in the curve and keep the car moving. A dead hook may stop you or loose all your momentum, a little extra air in the tire may help. Just haze the tires, dont get them too hot.

Too late on the tires haha cant go back now. I was shifting at about 5600rpm, I was actually shifting 1st to 2nd early not purposely though, when I made sure to shift it later I ran my 13.1. I cross the line in 4th but I am not certain at what rpm maybe around 4k. Once I get my tax return I am going to drop some on suspension, lower control arms are a first, some lakewood shocks/struts and maybe I'll find a eibach drag spring kit used for sale.

It should be quicker, but I think the potential is there.

Did you ever try a higher launch RPM? For comparison's sake, I took my '89 LX to the strip with the stock motor, our suspension, 3.73 gear, off-road H, muffs, and BFG 275/50-15s. I launched at 5200rpms, and it dead hooked a 1.69 short time, 8.17 @ 83.01 in the 1/8th, and 12.91 @ 103.7. This was in the mountains in Kentucky, so it's not like it was negative DA.

I'd suggest more tire pressure, probably 14psi. I'd think it could take more launch rpm, although those Pro Kit springs aren't helping. You might be able to raise your shift points just a hair. Short shifting to second hurts the ET for sure. But you also need to powershift the heck outta the car to get the most out of it.

doesnt look like it's nosing over to me...looks right where it should be..

26x10.5 ET streets only have an 8.5"(give or take) tread face on them...they dont come any smaller than that...that tire is literally the smallest ET street you can buy

the mph looks pretty good..general rule is every .1 off the 60ft is .2 at the stripe...so get that 60' down to the low 1.7's or better and it'll run 12.8x's all day long..suspension time...

B cam FTW, and dont any of you forget it!! lol

thanks..i beat the snot out of it to get it there too lol..

OP needs some suspension..at the very least pull the front sway bar off for the track,it'll gain a ton of travel and take 20lbs off the front end...and take your pick between drag racing or hugging the turns, cuz you cant have the best of both worlds there, thats for sure

Well I already got the front sway bar off. I'm gonna try little higher psi next time and have the lower control arms on for sure.

my old ET Streets used to like 14psi..it would go 1.62 on those..then i switched to Hoosier QTP's..they seem to like 13psi, and the car goes 1.55-1.57 on average, with a best of 1.53..MT can suck it as far as im concerned lol
