Anyway, I just got the car back from insurance and took a look at the damage, and it's really not as bad as I thought it was. It looks like only the front fender aprons and core support are damaged. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these type of replacements have to be performed by a professional body shop/man, right? What kind of cash do you think we'd be talking here if I brought the guy the parts and had him replace just those three things, assuming there are no pre-labor friendships.
I'm going to start tearing this thing down and once the frame parts get replaced, I'll take care of everything else and eventually get it repainted. I'm also thinking about pulling the engine to paint the entire bay and perhaps sneak a little H/C/I action into the predicament. We'll see. We're about 99% close to getting $6,000 from insurance for the total damage, which is nice. The appraiser is supposed to come tomarrow to confirm the value.
