need Auto trans info 96 GT

Thanks ahead of time for any answers.

Here is the deal my buddy has a 96 GT Automatic. His trans is basically out to lunch. I have access to a 99GT auto(converter and all) that is low miles and works perfect that I can get for cheap, but I honestly don't know the changes to the trans over the years and if the 99 trans and converter are a direct bolt in or if anything is different that has to be changed that would cause a issue when installing it.

Main thing that comes to mind is the fact that the pre-1999 cars have a mechanical speedo/cable to the trans tailshaft whereas the 1999 up cars have the electronic speedo set-up. There are going to be issues & swaping of parts from the '96 trans to the '99 replacement.

There are others with more automatic trans experience here that will surely chime in. There may be other issues.
