------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My clutch is 7mm thick, but im not sure thats good or not. Its not hitting the rivets or anything. I know that it overheated alot actually. So now im looking at a Spec stage 1 or 2 clutch and pressure plate. On my flywheel is it balanced with counterweights. I see in a Jegs magazine that there is a 50 ounce and a 28 ounce. Or do I not need any counter weight at all?

damn...that clutch doesnt look good. The stock flywheel is not balanced as far as i know. But you will at the very least need to get the stocker resurfaced or just replace it with a nice lightweight one while your at it.

yes, your pressure plate is toast, it's burnt, and I've never heard of them being resurfaced. all flywheels from 5.0s from 81+ are balanced for 50 oz, you shouldn't have to worry about it. They're all pre balanced, just buy the right one, one with a 50 oz balance.

I think this was a king cobra clutch
I have seen a aluminum one for sale but it has a 0 oz balance. I trying to find a cheaper way on a new flywheel.

resurface the flywheel...they will tell you if it's too thin already.

if the disc was fine...why are you burning so bad?

i'd look into a possible bad clutch quadrant, dump the stocker for adjustable. make sure it's engaging/disengaging all the way

So if it is too thin already; I would need a new one correct? There was a grippi quadrant and cable on my car. It was installed crappy (no washers to keep it in one spot). I bought a Maximum Motorsports quadrant, cable, and Firewall adjuster.
I found a Ram 900 clutch that I wil probably buy. What throw out bearing would yall recomend? I went to autozone and they have a Hays that is self aligning, and some other crap. On my car now is a cheap one that is mostly that hard plastic.

Looks a bit like the one I pulled out of mine, which I'm pretty sure was a King Cobra (markings are the same as the KC that I just put in). Only thing is, the reason mine was pretty well cooked was due to the input shaft seal spewing tranny fluid all over inside the bellhousing. Notice the nice chunk of clutch disc material missing from the flywheel side, which I'm not sure was due to the oil seal leak or the prior owner (18 year old kid) having beat the snot out of it...

Not to agrue...what's so bad with Centerforce? I have one, and I like it!!

Resurface the flywheel, get a new clutch (of your choosing after research), pilot bearing and TOB.....you'll be good to go.

Also, quadrant, cable and firewall adjuster. if you don't already have.
