Need continued advice...ran compression test

As I've posted in other threads, my car started missing all of a sudden. Pulled codes, checked EGR, nothing. All wires and plugs are working. So I checked compression.

Cylinders 7 and 8 are showing 60. All other cylinders are at 150, except cylinder 1, which is at 148, and cylinder 4 is at 140.

I didn't think to put oil in cylinders 7 and 8 to see if it brings the pressure up, but I will. I'm thinking I have a blown head gasket? I am getting some white smoke, but I'm also getting blue smoke. No water in the oil, and it doesn't appear that I have any oil in the water. Of course I was almost home when it started missing, and I haven't driven the car since, other than running the car running tests.

Two questions...the car has been using a lot of oil...could a weak head gasket cause this, and maybe it just now gave way?

Also, the car has been pinging bad when I pull out...could this be associated with a blown head gasket?

If your losing oil and you have little leaks you could have bad rings. Or you have a bad valve. If the head gasket is blown on the intake side and not at a water jacket you have oil and water mixed. Does your car run hot. Are you losing water. If not than its rings and or valves

I don't appear to be losing water, but I haven't driven the car, so I'm not sure. I'm getting white smoke like water is mixing there, but I don't know. I don't want to replace the head gasket and that not fix it for now. I know I need rebuild the engine, but I needed to wait a little longer. Crappy timing.

Yeah the oil could be getting by the rings and buring off there. I would probably take it down and give it a mild rebuild. It sucks but that might be what you have to do.

As I said I forgot to do this the other night, but I should have put oil in the holes of the pistons 7 and 8. Now, I just want to make sure I have this right in my mind (sorry...stupid I know, but I'm second guessing everything lately):

If I have a blown head gasket, when I put oil in the holes and check the compression, it's not going to bring the pressure up significantly, right? Because of the blown head gasket?

I guess I'm just a bit confused. Normally if I was just checking compression, and I had a piston down on pressure, I'd put oil on, check compression again and if the pressure comes up, then the rings are ok. If not, the rings are shot.

Just trying to think this through...I know I probably need to rebuild the engine, but I just can't afford to do it right now and this is the only car I have (besides my old truck). I'm trying to decide whether to just fix the head gasket and make the car last until summer. I just hate to tear it down that far and not rebuild it...lots of work.

Can a head gasket blow if there's nothing wrong with the head?

You know, I used to be really good with cars, but for some reason I've forgotten everything I used to know! haha. :nonono:
