I am replacing the short cable in the e-brake so I can sell my car, but the damn thing is too short. Its the one that goes from the ratchet to the seperator. Well I have both rear cables pulled all the way forward and the ratchet all the way down and it still comes up short about an inch I'd say. Is there something that I'm missing here. I have no instructions so I'm just having to wing it. I searched the part number and its the correct part. Someone help.

I`m not sure if the SN95 e-brake is like a foxbody, but if it is you have to reset the spring tension on the hand brake assembly.

I did mine recently.I removed the hand brake assembly from the car,put it in a vise with the spring facing up.

Then I used what was left of the broken cable and attatched a pair of vise grips to the cable and pulled until the small hole on the side lines up with the hole on the part with the teeth.

When the holes line up,put a nail through to hold the spring tension in place.
Install the handle assembly and cable in the car and connect the cables to the equalizer under the car.

Twist out the nail with a pair of pliers and bang,it`s all set up.

May have to reposition the handle assembly a bit to line it up with the cable.

I think I read that its kinda like that, but i remember someone using an allen wrench to hold it but it wasn't detailed enough but after reading yours it made sense. So basically i have to pull the tension spring around so it lines up with the other hole, install it, take out the old cable, put the new one in, and then pull the nail out? Does that sound right.
