Well, the Stang is still overheating.

I have changed all of the following...

Water Pump
Thermostat
Radiator Hoses
Fluid

The car has no leaks, if has plenty of fluid. I even relocated my tranny cooler becuase I had been told that it might be interfering with air flow to the radiator.

What else can I check?

What else can cause overheating.
It only overheats or starts to overheat when I am on the freeway or on it pretty good. Once I slow down or stop at a light, it will begin to cool down a little.

Please guys, this is my only way of transportation and I need to solve the problem before I damage something else.

HELP!!!

The only other thing I can think of is the cooling fan. But it shouldn't overheat while moving I would think. You still might check to see the fan is running. Is it overheating till boiling point or just running hot? Also when you changed the fluid did you give it a good flush?

it happens when you are cruising down the highway? That is odd. Cars usually will over heat sitting at a light. Are your fans turning on?

Yeah, the fans turn on and stay on untill the temp cools down.

Thats what I thought, weird that it would heats up while moving on the highway.

I don't think it is getting to boiling point, but defenitely heats up, never did before. Causes the fans to be on all the time untill it cools down after a while.

i'm thinking fans too i had it happen with old cavalier once & that's what it sounds like. try turning the air or heat on when your cruising & see if that brings it down

If you havent...try flushing the radiater. You might also get a good degreasing cleaner (like Simple Green--undiluted) and spray down the turbulaters (those easily bendy blades on you radiator) to clean out any gook.

Try checking to see if the fans are physically damaged. It is weird that it only overheats when cruising down the road. I agree with c2see21 about turning the heat on when driving

Well, the fans look fine, no visible damage, and they do seem to turn on as soon as the temperature rises.
What about the temperature sensor and the fan switch (sensor)

Do those work independently or do they read of each other.
example...if the temp sensor is bad, would it throw of the fans or does the fan have it's own sensor to know when to turn on?

One more thing, if my radiator would need a flush, would the fluid be dirty or rusted or something. Because since the last time I flushed, the fluid looks very clean.

Not neccesarly. There could be corrosion built up inside. You would not really see any difference in the fluid unless it had been in there a very long time.

I am going to change the sensors tonight and flush my radiator.
Sorry to sound retarted but what would be the best way to flush it my system?

Also, someone told me that I should check my head gaskets. They told me that when you blow a head gasket, the car will overheat. How can I tell if it does indeed have a blown head gasket? Would it run like crap?

This may be a dumb question, but do you know that it is truly overheating or is your guage reading high? I have had cars have bad sending units that would show funky temps at random.

Also, try flushing your whole cooling system. My DD Nissan had a small pinhole leak in the radiator. I used Bars Leak and it actually plugged a water jacket in the head and it ended up cracking the head from heat. I like the "T"s you can buy from Prestone that you install in one of your heater hoses and you can hook a garden hose up and flush your system easily.

I am going to change the temp sensor that in on the cross tube on the intake tonight, should I also change the fan switch (sensor)?

Also, where can I get one of those prestone "Ts"? Is it made to flush you car?

You can get one of the Prestone Flush kits at any auto store, or Walmart. They are very easy to use, but they make one heck of a mess. Be prepared to wash the front of your car after you flush your system. I installed one on my truck 4 years ago and it never has leaked at the "T" connection. As to your overheat problem... How long did you have the coolant in there, before you changed it. My thinking is that if you do have a clog, then perhaps the coolant is staying clean due to lack of circulation. Also... perhaps you guage is faulty?? Just my .02

Maybe I do have a clog. By flushing my system with a hose, would this unclog the system? Or what is the correct way to flush it or un-clog it.

One thing I just remebered. I remeber replacing the radiator cap around the same time I started having problems. The thing is that the cap I bought at pep boys worked a little different. The original cap that was on my radiator would crap/ snap when you tightend it to a certain point, just like my gas cap. But the new cap doesn't have that function. I just tighten it as much as I can, but it doesn't crack/ snap at any point, I just go as far as my hands strenght will let me.

Would this affect it in any way? I read somewhere that the cap somehow releases air or pressure from the system. Could this be the problem?

If you have air in your system (a lot of air) you would probably hear it making a bubbling noise in your heater coil. It would sound kind of like the old wall mount house radiators. Can you hear anything?

EDIT: what did you do in the first place that required you to replace the cap? Just curious.

Actualy I took off the heater core. I went bad and was leaking a few years ago, so I just took it off and by passed it. Never had any problems with it. Would this have anything to do with it?

I chagened the cap about 2 months ago becuase I noticed that it would leak a little radiator fluid at times, not alot, but I would see it wet or dryied up fluid around it, I just thought it was old and not sealing right, so I replaced it.

Does anyone know much about the resevoir tank and how it should be working?

Is it always suppose to be full, or does it empty itself out. Just not sure how it suppose to work. I am use to my old F-150 with no resevoir tank up on top of the radiator, just fill the radiator up and see if it marks low fluid.

the resivoir should only fill when the car gets hot, and then drain back into the system. You need to get a Ford radiator cap while your at it. If it's not fitting tight that could be your problem the system has to be pressurized as far as I know. Call your Ford dealer service dept, and ask them about that. I was gonna say the sensor may be screwed up as the others did.
Do you sctually see you car overheating ?
Do you know its getting that hot ?
Are you loosing any rad. fluid ?

I am going to get a new cap at my local Ford dealer and see what happens.

As far as Fuid, I never loose any. No leaks and I never have to re-fill it.
Although, the resevoir always seems full, to the top. I went out to the car right now and I took of the cap and the fluid is still all the way to the top of the resevoir. Should it not be full?

Also,
Would detonation, pinging or air/ fuel ratio issues cause my car to overheat?

I have noticed that after I added my chip and MAF, I been getting a bit of detonation under load or higher RPMs.
