New mods are in my sig. I fired it up for the first time and the car won't hold idle. There are no leaks, smoke, or bad smells. I had to adjust the TB set screw for it to hold idle. I have a autologic chip that was burned for the old cams I had in there (XE270AH). I'm waiting for the throttle cable so I can drive it, but seems like the cam timing is good, no back fireing through the intake, no sucking sounds, car sounds very good when I rev it up. Any ideas? Also I forgot to mention I did a EGR delete and I have a SES light.

Next problem is I have a soft knocking sound from the passenger valve cover. How should I go about diagnosing this?

Thanks everyone for the input in advance.

Ever think that maybe you need to retune the car? You add ported heads and Comp XE278AHs (Stage IIIs) and expect it to run correctly off of your last tune?

Also, as far as the EGR goes is it shut off in the EEC with your chip?

I would pull the plugs get a small but intense flashlight and look down into the bores or if you have a boroscope use it. See if you have PTV contact. Also, make sure that you swapped the cam spacers onto the new cams. Could be the sprocket walking back and forth. I had that problem when I installed mine and forgot one of the spacers. Did you bleed the lifters? Some guys on Modular Depot didn't bleed theirs and it causes some sort of problem if you don't bleed them and let them pump back up with the new cams but I can't remember the details. Lastly, it just may be increased valvetrain noise that is sometimes associated with aftermarket cams, etc. Mine has some extra noise (very slight) but no signs of PTV contact so I've just chalked it up as increased noise due to the cams' profiles.
