Started it up today and the headers glowed red. Its got a 1970 28oz balancer and pointer on it. My ? Is the balancer and pointer the same as a 1990 balancer/pointer as far as the timming marks?. I set the base timming at 10* w/spout out but by the glowing headers Im sure it was way retarded. Thanks

Definitely a timing issue, Im assuming that your motor is set up for the 28oz imbalance? If your pointer isnt pointing correctly, try advancing or retarding the dist. by hand and see if it helps.

Yeah its a 28oz imbalance and when I rotated the dizzy it does run better but I dont know what its timmed to. That why Im curious if the pointer or balancer or both are not the same (70s model yr) as a late model yr(90s). Thanks:
