HISSIN50 - Maybe I checked it wrong. I put the guage on the release valve and started the engine. Then after getting that reading, I disconnected the vaccum hose from the FPR and got that reading. Maybe I got my numbers backwards, I'll check again during my lunch break.

mo_dingo - I checked C-D and that was the one that was 5 VDC, I'm pretty sure thats what I read, but I have a tendency to speed through things and misread. I'll check it by the procedure you said. But the funny thing is, I have a spare MAF that I tried switching out and it didn't solve the problem. Could be that both are bad though.

I'll try it out and let you guys know, thanks for all the help so far.

Checked it again today -

Fuel pressure was 35 with vaccum and 42 without - I wrote it down backwards before.

C-D was only 3500 ohms. D-B was only 0.18 V. I swapped MAF's and got the same numbers. So either both MAFs are wrong, or the power supply or wiring to the MAF is bad. Either way, I am done trying, so I am going to just break down and take it to a shop and have them tell me whats wrong. If its not to hard, I will do the work myself, but if its complicated, then I have to dish out the $$ to have them do it.

What is the history on both of the MAF's? Are they brand new, or used, or what? You said you had another MAF laying around, so I assume it's old.

You might want to go to autozone and check the C-D ohms on a brand new one. It might give you some kind of hint if the one you have is bad for sure. If the autozone one reads over 10000 ohms, and yours does not, get a BRAND NEW ONE.

Well, D-B is much lower than expected, but at least it's not completely dead (0V or 5V). You read this with the car running at idle speed, right?

Take your time, write everything down, and be patient. I know how frustrating these things can be.

Well one MAF is the stock one, and the other is an older used one I got from a friend, its been sitting around for a while. Everything was checked at idle (well as good as an idle as can be with the surging). Your thinking its just the MAF and nothing else? This would give me an excuse to get a slightly bigger one then stock. I guess I will go check it out at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts before I take it in and see if that fixes it.

Forgot to add, why do you think D-B is so low?

Because your MAF is broken, is my guess. Try a brand new one at Autozone and see what happens.

Well this sucks. Tried a new MAF and disconnected the negative battery cable to clear the codes and reset the computer. Nothing changed, still CE light, still same codes. I think it might have something to do with the computer or wiring to the MAF, but I really have no idea. Please if anyone has any idea, let me know, if not its going into the shop because I am stuck and frustrated.

I took it into a mechanic today and he told me that first of all, changing out the O2 sensors and MAF was making it sending random codes even though I cleared them after each installation. Then he told me he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it because it was throwing codes intermitingly or something. He supposedly cleared them and wants me to drive another week and then take it back in once it has raked up some more codes (which will probably be the same ones).

Ok, got it back from the mechnaic for the second time. Here was his solution:

1. Bad 02 sensors - can't be just replaced them 3 weeks ago as the first idea to solve this problem

2. Bad wiring to the sensors - is it possible that both sensors wiring could go bad at the same time?

3. Bad computer - maybe?

Please, if there is someone out there with some idea after reading my other post please let me know. Does this sound like a computer problem? I don't want to spend another $150 on another dead end. Please will somone help me out here. Would taking it into the Ford dealership make any difference as they might know the problems better?

Thank you in advance, I hope someone out there reads this and helps me out.
