Need help deciding on suspension for 2011 5.0

Will I need just springs or would I have to go all out for a 1 1/2 inch drop?

You CAN do just springs, like this Eibach kit: 2005-2011 Ford Mustang GT V6 UPR Pro Series Kit Lowering Springs by Eibach at UPR Products - Lifetime Warranty!

but the first problem is that your rear axle will be shifted over to the left because of the factory panhard bar. This adjustable PHB will correct that: 2005-2011 Ford Mustang Pro Street Double Adjustable Pan Hard Bar - UPR Products

But in reality, there are several parts that you should eventually upgrade if you're going lower...

Caster Camber plates because the stock ones aren't very durable, an adjustable upper control arm to restore the correct pinion angle, lower control arm relocation brackets to restore the anti-squat geometry, aftermarket struts and shocks to match the increased spring rate, and so on.

None of this is necessary to lower the car, but it is recommended.
