For right now, you can wire in a manual switch. Pin 14 is for the low speed fan. It requires fused 12 volts.

Pin 17 is for high speed and requires ground. ALWAYS use your meter to test circuits before installing switches, etc.

But that should help.

An alternative is to run a stand alone controller. I would opt for a variable controller myself (that is the plan for me down the line).

Good luck.

One can probe the ECT sensor (it is a thermistor) and note its values at various ambient temperatures. It can be within spec (no code) but out of calibration.

Good luck.

Disconnect the ECT and put a paper clip in between the two terminals of the connector. The ECM will read this as being super hot and it should turn on the fan if everything is working correctly. If it does turn on, then your ECT is bad.

If the fan still doesn't turn on, then the ECT is probably ok and you have other problems.

i changed the sensor above t stat that tell's the fan of the water temp and turns the fan on i belive (round plug) and i also changed the temp sending unit
but i need to check my plug that goes in to the fan i did not check that yet my be i will need new plug may be it's burnd out
who know's when i get back home that's first think i'm chcecking

I replaced everthing on the fan system except the EEC itself. Then finally realized it was the stupid ground connecter on the plug. It would work fine until it got real hot.

If the fan comes on when the a/c is on then it seems like it's something with the sensor. You could have a bad wire from the sensor. The way to see if your fan is fine is to run the codes from the computer. When you plug in the code reader or you jump the reader port with a multimeter and a piece of wire part of the codes is to run a fan self test. The low speed will come on the the high speed will come on. My hanes mustang book shows how to jump the code port. Check this first. Someone here should have an online diagram on how to do this. If not I will scan the page from my book and post it.

I might be blind or high off of the gas fumes right now. But I didn't see the link in the faq.
Brandon, I stand corrected. I don't reference the FAQ often (it takes forever for the page to load on Dial up), but I really thought there had been info at some point in the somewhat distant past for retrieving codes. Now I did not see it. Senior Moment.

Thanks for the correction. :nice:
