I purchased what was advertised as a gt40p upper and lower intake manifold from one seller and gt40p heads (stamped on heads) from another seller. I took them both to the shop to gasket match and they said the lower intake and the heads dont match up. both are stock, and they can bolt up. but the diameters of the holes in the intake are about a half inch smaller than what the gt40p heads have. the shop said this would choke the engine and probably the intake isnt gt40p. the intake does have some numbers stamped on it but they're at work and ill post them when i get home again. can anyone shed some light on this?

This is probably correct. I am not 100% positive, but usually the intake and heads are not matched exactly the same. The intake is usually more restrictive than the heads. That is why people have them port-matched, in order to get them to flow equally well. If you could post some pictures of the intake, I'm sure someone on here could identify them. I'd bet tmoss could probably tell you what the port sizes are supposed to be just so you could check.

turns out either i heard the guy incorrrectly or he said it incorrectly bit the sizes are off by a little less than a quarter inch. which isnt very big but they said it would be 300-400 to port the lower out and match it. with the price they gave me i cant say it's worth it. has anyone else noticed this and do you fix it or bolt it on anyway?

well at least im not crazy. ive got an email sent to tmoss. I had new springs and retainers put on, and a 3 angle valve job. is the performance gains of getting the lower ported worth the cost of doing it?
