I was ordering parts for my 3G alt and track legal battery relocation project when I relized that I had no way to crimp the 4AWG and 1/0 terminals. I could have had the place I ordered them from do it for a cost but I wasn't thinking and now it is too late.

I need suggestions on how I can get this done. For the life of me I can't find any crimping tools that are made to crimp such large terminals.

Any suggestions are welcome.

What I have done in the past is gotten a terminal end that is capped off, put it in a vise and got a torch and melt solder into it. While it is still in liquid form stick the wire into the terminal end and be done with it. Also doesn't hurt to have the cable end a little warm before you stick it in. Hope this helps.

local audio shop should have a crimper for it. i just used vice grips on mine and it came out fine. mine had the line down the middle so i could crimp one side then crimp the other one. i also soldered the terminals after i crimped it with a torch.

Two local electrical distributors had them for rent in my area.
One place let me use it right at the store for much less than renting it.

Do Not try to crimp those big lugs in a vise, this is wrong and results in a poor connection that could come loose as well as damage/crack the lug itself.

Those heavy duty crimpers, crimp so tightly that there is no airspace between the wires. It`s a solid connection, kind of triangular shaped.
These crimpers are better than soldering imo.
