A friend of mine is pulling the Mach 460 from his car, which I am buying and installing in my car. I have everything except for the front amp (already pulled out though) and the wiring harness.
Last night he went to pull the wiring harness and he said that there was other wiring that was loomed in together with the Mach 460 harness, and he was worried that he may have to start cutting wires to get it out.
Now the way he explained it, it sounds like they wrapped a bunch of wires together, and he should just have to cut the wrap and follow the Mach 460 harness to all it's connections to remove it.
So my question is, does he have to cut the harness to get it out? I thought it was all plug and play. Also, does anyone have pictures of the Mach 460 wiring harness, that may help us out some.
Thanks in advance.

When I tore apart my 98 GT it had the connections for the mach 460 system, I'm not sure if every harness system is the same on every car.

The Mach 460 wiring harness is separate from the standard wiring harness, so your first presumption is correct; he'll likely have to cut the wrap. But, you don't take all the wiring. The Mach 460 has a separate wiring harness, and it's in two parts.
First off, does your 'stang have the Premium Sound System installed? If not, you'll have to route a lot more wiring to get the Mach 460 work. If you have the Premium Sound System, all you need to do is plug in the extra wiring and you're set.
If you're not sure if you have the Premium Sound System, remove a door panel and the door speaker behind it. Trace the speaker wire back into the door; you should find another speaker connector taped up on the wire. If you found this connector, you've got Premium Sound. If not, installing the Mach 460 will be a big PITA.
Here's a great URL for the Mach 460:

To remove the Mach 460-specific harness, have your friend trace the harness from the speaker tray in the trunk. There are two speaker plugs that go up by the window; leave those. You'll re-use the ones in your stang. There's a second wiring harness that leads to the left side of the car. Follow that one down the left side of the car all the way down to the driver's kick panel. Disconnect it there. Then continue tracing the same wiring under the dash, over to the Mach 460-specific amp under the radio. Disconnect this second part of the harness. That's it - the rest of the wiring will be re-used from the Premium Sound System wiring.

Thanks for the replies everyone!
How much more involved will it be if I don't have the premium sound system? I'll pull off the door panels but I can tell you that my car has the amp under where the CD player would be in the Mach 460. I don't believe the car had a CD player before though.

I don't know how much more work it'll be, but you'll have to modify the factory wiring harness. If you have the amp, you've likely got Premium Sound.
Ok I went here http://web.tampabay.rr.com/theflock/mustang/doorplate.html
My the code on my door tag for the radio says "H" but the site has numbers listed instead
Also they only have premium, Mach 460 and Mach 460 w/CD player listed as sound system options.

EDIT: It appears I do have the Premium Sound System, however here is my issue.
I found the connecter taped up inside the door panel, but it's got the same style connector as the door speaker, and the Mach 460 tweeter is a different style connector :damnit:
Since it's 2 wires, I guess I could find another way to connect them
