I just bought a 40 Ford with an all mustang drivetrain It has an injected 5.0 and an AOD trans. I am having trouble with the floor shifter binding but I don't know what year it is The motor is a 90 according to the spark plug wires. The T handle on the shifter does not come off there is not an allen screw to remove it.

That looks like a older shifter from pre-od car, not sure.
there should be a hex head set screw on the front side of that shifter iirc.

That looks to be an early 80s shifter. It’s definitely not 87+ Mustang AOD shifter. Some of the early 80s fords has console deletes And had shifter mounted direct to floor like that

IIRC, you remove the handle, push the button in and pull up. There is a spring in there so be carefully of it shooting out

Here’s an ‘84 with similar shifter, but with a console. Couldn’t find a console delete car to compare with

Thank you that looks like it I'll try tomorrow to get the handle off. I looked everywhere and there is no set screw
