I have had problem with my car for a while now and thats why its parked. 6 Months ago I had my PIP in my distributor replaced because my car was hesitating at RPMs above 3000.

Now my car is acting crazy. My stock and aftermarket tach fluctuate all over even though the actual RPMs are speady. I also have the higher RPM hesitation back and now my car has small backfires and runs rich.

I havent messed with the timing and I didn't make any mods around the time this happenned. I sent it to some dumbasses who couldn't figure it out and still charged me to run the tests :bang:

Anyone have any suggestions???

check your grounds

the ground strap under the motor mount and stuff like that. mine came loose and when I got on it it would lose contact or it would just move around and make my tach and guages do exactly that.

Your car is also grounded at the two small bolts that run into the top of the radiator support on the driver's side just behind the headlight. I had trouble with mine there and it was causing erratic guages and popping through the stereo.

maybe putting in your PIP you messed something up or got a faulty one or something. doesn't it send signals to the computer on timing issues? If so, the computer may be trying to correct itself. As for the tach, i wouldn't know. Where exactly do you have it attached to? Ground wires definatly sound plausable

I had a Ford dealer replace the PIP. As for the tach, both my factory and aftermarket gauges are showing the same thing and they are both grounded to seperate places. What sends the tachs the RPMs?
