For the past few years a buddy and I have been throwing an idea around about opening up a business dedicated to our passion for mustangs. The business at first is going to be focused on making new and unheard of products for the ...yes your hearing this right...FOXBODY MUSTANGS. I have kind of gotten a little bored with my stang in the last few years and not many new products have come around to spice things up. So we have alot of ideas floating around...(kept on the DL for now...sorry guys...trust me it will be worth the wait) but we cant seem to decide on a name. Years ago when we started this idea we came up with stangwerks, and stangcentral but never put either one of them to work and now the names are already taken. We are wanting a cool flashy name that people will remember. Something clever...not rediculous, and preferably with stang, or are names or initials in it (Daniel Brewton & Ryan Farmer). We have been floating around with Stang Speed for a while but I think it is taken as well. Guys please help us out, are tying to put this business together for you...trying to bring some new live to a nastalgic muscle car. And if you have any product ideas please send me and message here on stangnet and I will add it to the list and submit it to engineering. You might add things you love about your 5.0, things you hate..such as broken ashtray doors and console lids. :SNSign:

ONLY SERIOUS IDEAS PLEASE.

Like I said it is only going to dedicated to foxbody until it gets off the ground because thats what I have all my experience in and I know foxbody stuff sales. Later on we will pic up anywhere from 64 all the way up to 2007. Plans include salvage parts, new stock replacement parts, as well as all the go fast goodies.. Oh and I can't forget to mention an in house dyno. So the name cant really specify fox body because we will expand later. But trust I have a feeling the foxbody mustang is still going to be the KING IN OUR SHOP.

The tricky part will be finding a name that specifies what you're doing without getting in ford's cross hairs. I hear that you can't use the word Mustang in a title if it refers to a car.

Let the crappy names begin!

"The Stable" <-- Horses right?
"Nightmare Motorsports" <-- Black horse anyone?
"My Little Pony" ?
"ShadowStang Performance" Gives you a reason to make a badass black promo car!
"Sub-10 Stallion Inc" Can you tell I'm throwing **** together?
"Specter Speedworks" Maybe a ghost horse to get the Stang idea across...

Good luck with your business!

These are all very great ideas guys keep them coming. I told Ryan about this thread and he is just as excited at getting this thing going as I am. I dont know how long before we will have it up and running but hopefully soon. Your ideas will only help make this dream a reality. The more ideas you give the better we can make the business. Dont let this thread die... if six months from now you have a new idea dig this thread up and repost.

I like all your ideas but who would of thought that my own screen name be used...it was right under my nose and I never saw it..

Sorry, I couldn't stop my fingers from typing it.

But, seriously, I WOULD NOT get my hopes up on using ANY name w/ Mustang or Stang in it. Have you even glanced at the articles, etc. RE: what Ford is doing? If not, research it. If you are serious about this (and it sounds like you are), you owe it to yourself to know what is currently going on in this marketplace. You would be shut down before you even got off the ground. And, if you do get things up and running before Ford finds you, it won't take them long. Nothing worse than having a start-up business for a year or two, start turning profit and making a name, and then have to shut it down and start all over.

I'm not trying to rain on the parade. I think Mustang Illusions would be a great name. BUT, if you use it you are taking a HUGE risk that could cost you your business. Is a name worth that? I did hear that Ford is looking into 'alternatives' to their recent heavy-handed techniques, but I wouldn't rely on their kindness or generosity. Hell, their falling fast and laying off TONS of people. They need $$$, and this whole trademark fiasco is a money-grab on their part, if you ask me.

That being said, maybe try to incorporate some of the Mustang's distinct features (which aren't trademarked) into your company's name:
5-Liters, Inc.
FourEyes Performance
D&R (or B&F) SpeedShop (not sure if you're doing more performance or
cosmetic stuff, or both)
Turbine Performance & Dyno

I would, however, avoid using 'Cheese Graters' in the name. It doesn't really shout performance!

Whatever you decide--Good luck!
