Need help on changing spark plugs

I'm putting in new spark plugs, the drivers side was easy to get to,no problem. However when I started on the passenger side I couldnt even see the plugs let alone try to change them:bang: Does anyone know any tricks on how to get to them?Any tips? Thanks.

The passenger side looks intimidating at first, but, as mentioned, take out the intake tube and also the air pump hoses (3 hose clamps). Takes 3 minutes to do, then you will see, the passenger side is actually quite a bit easier to do than the driver's side. Swivel joints and various extentions are a must.

I agree - if you have the smog components, undo the connections on a hose or two and get yourself some room.

I'd add that a nice tight ratchet wrench helps (one that doesnt require 45* of movement to click. :rlaugh: ), along with a long and short extension and a swivel joint.

Good luck.

I think on that pass. firewall plug, I've had the best luck actually using an open-end wrench on the spark plug socket itself (not using ratchets or extensions at all. I can but I get binding).

?? I use a craftsman 3/8 wratchet directly on the end of the spark plug socket. Always worked great for me, even when I had smog stuff on....
I dont know how you do it, but  Next time I do plugs, I'll have you come over and do that plug for me. :D I dont think I had room to turn the ratchet.

I'd add in general: using a 3/8" stubby ratchet with a pivoting head can really help out.

Passenger side plugs suck, I don't care what anyone says. The last cylinder by firewall was designed to punish with those damn smog pipes. You need girly hands just to line up a socket on a swivel.

Drop the smog pipes, and it's heaven.

on the pass side getting the plugs on an off for me was easy for the first two i got the from underneath the rear two i used a short extension, long extension, and a swivel joint i just pushed the smog hoses down for easy axcess the pain for mean was getting the last plug wire to pop onto the plug.

D*** you #4 plug wire!

How about undo the smog piping bracket at the alternator, pull out the rubber smog hose from the metal tube and push everything out of the way. Passenger side is the easiest.
