I was goin with some GT40 heads but i was like why not go a lil better!

i saw some Pro Comps

heres the specs!

  • 175 CC intake runners

  • 60 CC combustion chambers

  • Heads are assembled with new 2.02 Stainless Steel once piece Intake valves

  • Heads are assembled with new 1.60 Stainless Steel once piece Exhaust valves

  • All 16 bronze guides

  • Heads are assembled with .600 valve spirings with hardened valve keepers

  • Heads are assembled with screw in studs and guide plates

  • Heads are assembled with new valve seals

  • Heads are complete and ready to install

I am looking for a Bolt on aluminum head! I will be running a E-cam or trickflow stage 1 cam!

i want to stay under 800 bucks shipped to my door!

I'd say save a little longer and buy something else. You can find used, but perfectly good TFS/AFR heads usually for around $1000, sometimes less. With the 2.02 intake valve, you'll have to open up the valve reliefs on your pistons, which can be done with a die grinder, but would be better to use a piston notching tool, for consistency between pistons. Then, of course there's the fact that they've been out for a while, but are still a relative unknown. Someone on here had them, and IIRC, ditched them after some sort of issues (valvetrain related, I beleive).

Edit:
Ummm ... what about valve-to-piston clearance? Those '86 motors came with flat-top pistons that (usually) don't have valve reliefs...
Good catch. I didn't even think about it being an 86. You may need to cut reliefs for any head you choose.

You running a cam with a stock intake?? Putting a cam in is about the last thing I'd do if I were you, you're still speed density I'm assuming? You'll want to get a cam that's friendly to speed density. Might think about just finding some cleaned up gt40s and put 1.7 RRs on them, and then find a good deal on an aluminum intake, would cost you the same as getting just aluminum heads

i don't want irons... want something a lil better.. i don't care if they dont flow as good as AFR or trickflow...

dont matter anyway gt40 wont bolt up either... no matter what i do i have to notch the pistions
