Need help please, my father has terminal cancer...

Hello all,

Sorry to write such a depressing thread. I want to finish the stang before he passes, and I have a few things with the wiring that have just hung up the project. I really want to take him for a ride in the mountains before he leaves us. Is there anyone in South Denver that could lend me a hand to quickly finish her up? I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

sorry to hear that, im in my 9th month of remission from stage 2 non hodgkins lymphoma and it was harder for my family to deal then me.....and im only 34.

iskwezm-it's a smaller world than most folks think. I am sorry for your battle and happy you have beaten the odds!!! Rock on man.

Sorry I can't help you either. I'm actually in the same situation, hoping to take my dad for a spin before he goes from prostate cancer. I just wanted to mention how helpful I found the Wiring Diagram books by Jim Osbourne. Probably the best 15 bucks I spent on my car, and with the color codes etc you can basically figure out anything.

Man, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! My father passed away last year in March and he was only 58 years old! I miss him soooooooo much, theres not a single day that goes by that I don't think about him!

Thanks for the kind words; sorry to hear that so many of you are going through or have gone through a similar situation. I will try to pick up the Osbourne books this week. My dad was the wiring guy, but he is so weak now that he has to sit most of the time. I did not have the heart to tell him that I still had some issues to line out with the harness. I have a few more parts coming in this week and I may actually get it finished up save for the darn wiring. "Electrical" just is not my strength. Funny though, my dad is an electrical engineer. You would think some of it would have rubbed off.

Lost my DAD when he was only 55 from lung cancer. So I have been in your shoes. That was 22 years ago and the loss is easier as time goes by. Hang in there.

Check and see if there is a local Mustang Club in your area or even A Vo Tech School that has an automotive shop. I bet either one would be willing to help.

Im in littleton, but im afraid im in the same boat as you when it comes to wiring. I finally gave up and took my car to the shop and had them do it. What exactly is it you need help with? Let me know if i can be of any assistance.

Too many things to list, but lets just say that I am having a hard time knowing how to convert some of the old to new. More than anything I just need another pair of eyes to help me get it cleaned up. By the way, you have my color scheme, sonic blue and bright silver stripes. Would love to see it when you finish it up.

if you are not too far into wiring it and don't mind spending the extra money, I would go out and get a painless wiring kit. It's super easy to install. The new kits even have the wires with writing on them to let you know what it is so you don't have to go back and forth from the book. The great thing about the kit is it is super easy to put in and it is truely "painless". I wish I was in the area to help ya out but if you need any help if you pick up the painless wiring kit, give me a shout.

Sorry to hear of your situation. I lost my father, very suddenly, when I was 24, that was 22 years ago. Time is a great healer, but there is a lot of things which I could have learnt from my father, which I never got the chance, and he never met his grand kids or my wife.

I applaud your commitment to trying to finish up your car, so that your father and you can enjoy that ride in the mountains.

I would just offer up one thought. You cannot put a price on your goal of finishing up the car and enjoying that ride, it's going to be priceless. If you can scrape up the funds to take the car to a shop, tell them the situation, most people have been through something similar, see if they can help you out.

For the sake of a couple of hundred bucks.......it would be worth it I'm absolutely sure.

Man. I understand what your are going through. I'm in the same boat as geordie, my father unexpectedly die at the age of 50 from a heart attack. That was 13 years ago and the summer before my senior year of high school. It has been tough, but time does heal all wounds. He never got to meet his 3 grand kids or my wife either. Hang in there and get it finished so you can enjoy the time you have left with your father.

Is this a new harness or new old style one? I did most of mine now with a EZ Wiring harness. I may be able to help.

Thanks all for the kind words and offers for assistance. I would love to just go out and pick up a painless harness or similar harness to ease installation, it's just not something I can do at this point. A few kind souls have offered valuable time locally and through Stangnet and I feel confident that I can get it completed now.

Please do not feel that way. Stangnet is an internet family, sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry, and sometimes we bicker. That doesn't mean that we are not there to support each other. I wish I was close enough to you to help, but the commute from West Virginia ......
