Need help QUICK - About 98 Rear-end

Synthetic or Not does not matter. I personally use Redline(synthetic), but others will recommend Royal Purple or Mobil 1 as well. They are good. Or you can use Motorcraft Oil and Friction Modifier.

I didn't use synthetic ... just regular 80W-90 ( I think ) and 4 oz. friction modifier. *Warning* Friction Modifier is the worst smelling **** known to man!!

Same here, 80-90w with Ford friction mod. That **** is the worst smell ever, i'm around gear oil everyday and it almost makes me vomit, once i get it on my work clothes it doesn't go away.

80W-90 is $4/quart
Friction modifier is $6/bottle

Sound about right?
You don't need to use Synthetic gear oil but,it will last longer though.
In my 96 I use Royal Purple 75W90 gear oil everytime it needs to be
changed.
