need help removing pass. valve cover asap.

The valve covers have just a few 7/16 bolts holding them on. Take a rubber hammer and knock them loose. You will need to take the upper intake off. You can try to wiggle them out with upper intake on but it's a pain. Not sure of the black bars you speak of. You talking about the plastic things that hold the spark plug wires?

theres 2 black bars that run right on the top lip of the valve cover that plug/screw in to the lower intake.. the bars are in the way, cant seem to get the valve cover off.. Trying to figure out how to take bars off. anyone with any ideas?

He's speaking of the heater tubes I believe...and you don't wanna mess with them, unless you wanna drain the radiator...

Wasnt aware those had to be removed to remove the VCs??? I split those 2 lines apart during my H/C/I install....but i had to to get tall VCs by them??/

I just did mine. If you take off the back nut that holds the black lines onto the intake at pull it up gently. then you can pull the valve cover straight up a hair and move forward and then back to you on the passenger side.

I know it sounds complicated, but just take your time and keep wiggling it. It does come out. Funny thing is, it goes right back in without all the struggles involved with getting it out of there.

You dont have to drain the radiator for thatm it doesnt leak too much of the coolant out.

I also had to unbolt my alternator to get my passenger VC off, did you have to do that as well?

I just finished it. On my 88 I had to unscrew the clamp on the coolant line (I think that's what it is) on the lower of those 2 black bars (back of passenger side). I rotated the clamp out of the way and the valve cover pulled right out. Just make sure you tighten the clamp asap cause it'll start to drip water into the head.

anybody else have any other methods? the heater hoses are in the way for me to.

As a matter of fact ........................................I do.

When you get the heater pipes off the car just hack saw them off a little bit back from the fitting and replace the pipes with regular heater hose.

Next time the vc has to come off the two hoses will move enough to pull it off with ease.

Thats how the old Stangs used to be setup.

That two pipe setup is kind of a "hosed up" thing if you ask me :D
