Need help w/wiring Painless fan relay

I about done hooking up one of the Painless fan relays and need to know if how to connect it to the fan, there are three wires there so i'm guessing I splice into one of them but which one would it be? When looking down at the connector which one is the high speed, low speed, and ground?

Nevermind figured it out by trial and error. Looking down at the fan connector from the top the three wires are: top (black color) is ground, middle (red) is low speed, and bottom (orange) is high speed.

What does the painless kit help?

The one I have turns the fan on at 185 degrees and shuts it off at 170 degrees..I think there's some cheaper kits that do the same thing now, but I bought this about 4 years ago just never put it in until now.
