ok, well a while back, i bought a tremec t5 brand new from a guy thinking it would bolt up perfectly and easily to my car but when i put it in, i found the bearing retainer sleeve and input shaft were too long!! so i assume it's for an sn95. well i saw that my bearing retainer sleeve was hitting on the clutch disc so i got a new steel one of those but i cant find an input shaft anywhere!! the thing is, my family is going through a lot right now so i have no money for a new one so i need to either A) find someone to trade for my brandnew sn95 input shaft or B) find out and try if the shaft works in my car. i know it's longer than the fox shafts but is it too long? will it work with an 88 5.0 with the fox bellhousing and everything else? please help!!

you need a sn 95 bell housing and I think starter also. I belive the input shaft is about 5/8 " longer than the fox t5. The SN bell will allow the conversion.

I believe Tremec's use their own bell also.

Hey, do you know why the input is longer?????

Because the on SN95's the shifter is moved back because of the redesigned dash. Therefore, if you use a SN95 bell, you will also move your tranny back causing it not to line up with the existing shifter hole.

As far as i know you can't change just the input.

Looks like you need to trade someone.

I meant trade whole tranny's.

As far as i know and have read, you can't change just the input shaft from the newer style SN95's to the older F-Body Trannys.

A tremec T5 is a regular T5, just made by tremec (they bought the company that made T5's and T56). The 3550, 3650 and the TKO line are newly designed tremec products. I believe the 3550 and TKO's use a toploader style bell housing, while the 3650 is a one piece bellhousing/case combination just for the 4.6.
