need help wiring up the cigarette lighter in the center console

when i got the car a few years ago it didnt have a center console. i put one in but never wired up the cig. lighter since i dont smoke. now ive swapped to the black interior and want the cig lighter wired up so i can use my cell phone car charger without having to wire the charger up directly to the fuse box. can anyone tell me for sure what i have to do to get it working properly?

is it only a constant wire and a ground wire or is there a 3rd wire? if so where does that third wire go to?

Yes, Joe, you are right. That is all you need. Unless you want the light to work on the lighter....then you need the third one to hook up to the instrument panel lights. I just pulled mine off since it is on when the headlights are on and with the ashtray door open, it is annoying. Do you have any of the wires that run in the console area still there? I coincidentally have my whole console out as I replaced the carpet a few weeks ago and haven't had a chance to put it back, so I have a good example. I would just grab that part of the harness from a parts car and wire it in.

You STILL have to let me see the car!!! LMK if you need any more info.

Hey Thomas, how are you?? I thought about stopping by Sunday when I took my daugther home but then I realized I didn't know exactly where you lived. lol

Are you going to the meeting this Sunday? I'll be there. If not then we will have to hook up sometime. I still wanna look at all you have done as well.

as for having the wiring, yes and no. lol let me explain. neither the console or the car came with the wiring (that I know of anyway on the car specifically) I did however get a harness from a guy on ebay awhile ago but its a big harness and i have no idea where anything plugs in. i would venture to say that it is only part of that harness that I need.

how did the carpet install go?

No, I probably won't get to go Sunday.... still working from year end. If your car has the ebrake light hooked up, and the reverse lights, then some of the wires are there. If so, they probably just cut off the lighter wires flush with the harness. That would be easy to add back.

Re the carpet.... Ok I guess, but I need to split it under the dash and the console so I can pull the front parts over to the sides....right now the front sides do not line up very well in the floorpan and with the mouldings. Oh well, at least it is progress. Next is the black dash and heater core!
